Sow’s Ear to Silk Purse project. This East Vancouver home, circa 1930, was a pretty sad, worn-down home when the current owners bought it. With two small rooms and a cramped dormer upstairs as well as the traditional setup of tiny living room and dining room on the main, it was due for an upgrade. A complete gut of the home and total removal of the second floor allowed for a realignment of the stairwell and supporting walls on the main floor to open up the living room to the dining room and to expand the kitchen allowing for a new configuration of cabinets in shaker style and combination of Caesarstone and Marble countertops. A totally rebuilt main floor powder room replace the single, all-purpose that serviced the entire house previously. Upstairs, an entirely new roofline allowed for three full bedrooms and two baths. The master bedroom comes with a walk-in closet and 3 piece bath and has windows facing both the front of the house and looking out into the large back garden. The other bathroom is also a full 3 piece and serves the two kids’ rooms. This house has beautiful red oak flooring throughout all rooms except in the bathrooms which are tiled. The partially finished, half-below-grade basement includes a laundry room with new cabinets and TV room for the kids.
